Sylva lets you keep your Work and Personal conversations separate.
How It Works
The context switcher lives in the sidebar, giving you quick access from anywhere in the app.

- Use the context switcher in the sidebar to toggle between Work, Personal, or All
Switch to Work to show only work-related content:

Switch to Personal to show only personal content:

Or select All to see everything at once:

- Each thread is tagged with a context when you create it
- The Dashboard, thread list, and search results all filter based on your selection
- This lets you focus on one area of your life without the other getting in the way
Context in Quick Capture
When you use Quick Capture to jot down a note, idea, or anything you want to remember, the capture form includes a Work / Personal toggle. This tags your capture with the right context so it filters correctly throughout the app. The toggle defaults to Work — switch it to Personal before saving if the capture belongs there.

Context in the Share Form
When you share content into Sylva from another app (using your device's share sheet), the Share form also includes a Work / Personal toggle. Choose the right context before saving so the shared content lands in the correct bucket and shows up when you filter by that context.

Context-Aware Soul Observations
Sylva's soul system — the way it learns your communication style, preferences, and boundaries — is also context-aware. Every soul observation is tagged with one of three contexts:
- Work — Applies only to work conversations (e.g., your preferred tone for status updates, how you like meeting agendas structured)
- Personal — Applies only to personal conversations (e.g., your preference for casual language with friends, how you plan family events)
- Both — Applies everywhere, regardless of context (e.g., your dislike of passive-aggressive phrasing, your general decision-making style)
When Sylva responds to you, it pulls in the observations that match your current context. A work conversation draws from Work and Both observations. A personal conversation draws from Personal and Both observations. This means Sylva can adapt its tone and behavior depending on whether you're drafting a board memo or planning a weekend trip — without you having to tell it each time.
When you manually add an observation on the Soul page, the input form includes a context selector so you can choose Work, Personal, or Both before saving.

Observations extracted automatically from your conversations inherit the context of the thread they came from. Observations that apply broadly — like general communication preferences picked up from your Settings > AI & Voice changes — default to Both.
