Voice recordings have a configurable maximum duration so lengthy meetings don't consume storage unnecessarily — and so you always know what to expect when you hit record.

How the Limit Works
When you start a voice recording on the New Meeting page, a timer counts up toward the configured maximum. Once the limit is reached, Sylva automatically stops the recording and saves what was captured. You don't lose any audio — the recording up to that point is preserved and ready for transcription.
The default limit is 2 minutes. This works well for quick voice memos and short check-ins, but you'll likely want a longer window for full meetings.
Changing the Limit
The maximum recording duration is an admin-level setting. If you have admin access:
- Go to Settings → Admin
- Scroll to the Voice section
- Open the Voice Max Recording Minutes dropdown
- Choose your preferred limit

Available options:
- Unlimited — no cap on recording length
- 2 minutes — the default
- 5 minutes
- 10 minutes
- 20 minutes
The change takes effect immediately for all users in your workspace. There's no need to refresh or restart anything — the next recording anyone starts will use the new limit.
Things to Know
- Non-admins can't change this setting. If you need a longer recording window, ask your workspace admin to adjust it in Settings → Admin → Voice.
- Choosing Unlimited (0) removes the cap entirely. Recordings will continue until you manually stop them. This is useful for long workshops or interviews, but keep an eye on file sizes.
- The timer is visible while recording. You'll always see how much time has elapsed, so there are no surprises when the limit approaches.
- If a recording auto-stops, nothing is lost. Everything captured up to that moment is saved normally. You can transcribe and extract tasks from it like any other recording.
